LRF or Light Rock Fishing might not be everyones cup of tea, but there is something to be said for its simplicity, and the ease in which you can be down at the waters edge fishing with little preparation.
I met up with Sam at a mark only fifteen minutes from my house for a few hours of handy fishing. A lot of the boats are out of the water at this time of the year, giving a bit more fishing room around the harbour. The wind was blowing making the fishing a bit more challenging, but we still had plenty of action from the word go. Pouting, whiting and pollock all made an appearance, and i even managed to hook and land a pair of someone’s boxer shorts! It just shows how much pressure you can exert on 2lb line. Sam had a few fish to an Ecogear Strawtail, but the majority of fish fell to a small section of Berkley Gulp Sandworm – all rigged Carolina style.
Oh, and if you’re missing a pair of boxer shorts, they can be found at the back of the Coal Quay in Dun Laoghaire!
Sam’s setup:
Rod: Reins Raz Ajiringer-Z, 7’6″, 0.4-7g
Reel: Daiwa Certate 2500
Line: 2lb FC
Lures: Ecogear Strawtails and Berkley Gulp Sandworms
Very interesting,,,,,,,,,,,,think I met you in Greystones Harbour a few weeks ago!
